Being poor in today’s modern society is difficult. Many people, even your next-door neighbors, can experience situational poverty.
Living in poverty is a hidden epidemic, which can happen to anyone, at any time. A loss of a job, life-changing accidents, major illnesses, unexpected medical bills, tragedy, and many other factors can plunge a family into uncertainty and despair.
The St. Ann Food Pantry distributes food to a variety of people in need: expecting mothers, mothers with infants and small children, out-of-work fathers, immigrants, new residents of Polk County, large families, low-income seniors, those with handicaps and limited mobility. People arrive at the pantry by car, truck, motorcycle, Uber, bicycle, motorized wheel chairs, or by foot, carrying bags, backpacks, pushing wheelbarrows and pulling suitcases.
